Convert from XPS to XNALara, or import from xps into blender with bones?

Post by Sabudum on Tue Sep 24, 2013 12:09 am

I can't seem to be able to import XPS's mesh.ascii into Blender, with the skeleton, the skeleton just isn't imported.
Nor can i convert a model that is currently XPS only, to XNALara.
In other words i want to have that model in XNALara as well, so i can be able to import the bones into Blender.

Don't know if i got that clear, any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

XNALara armature requirements

Blender .mesh.ascii importer
You can find here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] the Blender 2.49 import script version 1.7
This importer allows to import XPS's .mesh.ascii into Blender 2.49 with the skeleton, if the model take into account the XNALara armature requirements

  •    multiple root joints caust trouble (Blender importer issue)
  •    the first joint must be the armature root joint (Blender importer issue)
  •    the root joint must be in the center of the ground plane (position 0.0 0.0 0.0) and the figure must be standing on the floor
  •    white space inside the bone names are the node delimiter to build the bone tree-view (control window)
  •    if the name start with "unused" (without quotes), then this bone a hidden (control window)
  •    all names lowercase (command menu, like mirror pose, issue)
  •    no name should include any underscore. (camera pivot issue)
  •    every name must be unique
  •    siblings (like fingers) should be define after the parent bones (like wrist)
  •    and of course, the model may not exceed the maximum number of bones per skeleton or per object
  •    figure must face to the front (camera). Important for pose files and inverse kinematics (IK)
  • armature should be made in T-Bone pose. Important for pose files and IK chain

Old generic XNALara format
You can convert a model that is currently XPS only, to XNALara, using "XPS 10.9.6 -- Reboot Edition" [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or higher by mark the option
"use old generic format (without guarantee)"
